The great Chilli farmer checking the quality of this years Cayenne
crop drying on mesh wire trays. Chilli farmers are always aware
of the damage that the sun can do, so if you want to be a Great
Chilli Farmer, get a Great Hat. Is that a Crocodile on Julian's
head?
|

This year we planted a new variety called The Passion Cayenne,
and what a great idea that was. What a fantastic Chilli this
turned out to be! 20 centimeters of awesome sweet power with
a slightly purple hue. De-seeded, it can be eaten like a pepper,
but for the brave, eat it all and enjoy the feeling!

The
Great Chilli Farmer's wife insists on overseeing the process
to make sure that everything we sell is TOP Quality.
|

It
doesn't get much better than this. How is that colour?
|

The Jalapeno still rates as my all time favorite, and what a
super crop we had this year. Pickle it, slice it, bake it, fry
it, or just eat it as it is
.you can't go wrong.
|

Mrs. Chilli farmer gathering the Chillis for tonight's dinner.
I wonder what she is going to cook for me? Stir-fry? Chilli
concarne? Curry? Seafood gumbo? Who cares, as long as its HOT!
|

One
of South Africa's favorite pickled chillis. The Hungarian Cherry
is sold pickled in a sweet, syrupy liquid as "Pepper Drops"
and can be eaten with anything. |

Another of the Capsicum specie, the Red Bell Pepper. We grow
huge quantities of peppers for those who love the taste without
the zing. |

This
year we decided to try a new "Indoor" technique and
I have to tell you that it has been a major success. As you
can clearly see, the plants grew to substantial new heights
and produced a wonderful crop. The plants that you see us standing
amongst are a hybrid chill called JALAMEX, which is a cross
between a JALAPENO and a MEXICANA. Superb eating Chilli with
a Medium to Whew Taste. Check out the leaf quality
Good
leaves
..great Chillis
believe me! |

Mrs.Chilli Farmer getting "up-close" and personal
with her babies. We nearly lost her in this Chilli Jungle. Good
thing we spotted her hat, otherwise she might still be in there! |

I
had to show you this Chilli. It must have weighed as much as
a small apple. The JALAMEX is fast becoming one of my favorites.
|

This
years GOLDEN HABANERO crop, simply put, showed off this year.
I can't believe the size and shear power of this Chilli. The
bravest of the brave can say that they can eat any Chilli, but
this one will still bring a tear to their eye. I know it does
with me. Give it the respect it deserves as the worlds second
hottest Chilli. |

I
can feel the heat coming off this plant. Can you? |

If
that's not GOLDEN, then nothing is. I think you'll agree!
|

The
RED SAVINA HABANERO. Rated as the hottest Chilli in the world,
and until I find it's successor, it has to be called "The
Tiger Woods of Chillis" It's no wonder that they make pepper
spray out of the juice. Bite one and hold onto someone for support! |

It
takes a dedicated team of Chilli pickers to get the job done.
When this picture was taken, the temperature was around 40 degrees
C. |
Isn't
that a wonderful sight? RED SAVINA HABANEROS ready to be taken
to market. Enough heat in that crate to wipe out a small village. |

The
smile says it all. I'm a happy Chilli picker and when today
is over, I am going to be a happy Chilli chomper. Note the hat
with the tree growing out of it! |

What's
that? You say I'm a HOT BABE? Are you talking about me or what
I have in my hands? |

John
inspects the HUNGARIAN CHERRY crop and as you can tell, he is
more than satisfied with the size and quality of this years
babies. |

Mrs.
Chilli Farmer showing off a selection of Chillis that have just
been picked. We really are big on hats
.as you might have
noticed. |

John,
give Mrs. Chilli Farmer her hat back. You already have a GREAT
CHILLI FARM cap. What a good idea
.."JUST EAT IT"
|

The
HUNGARIAN CHERRY CHILLI. Nothing nicer than a sweet pickled
Pepper Drop stuffed with mixed Feta and cottage cheese. Hmmmmmm!
My mouth is watering just thinking about it. |

It's
great to be a chilli farmer. |

This
is the new variety called "PASSION CAYENNE" and it
is an absolutely fantastic Chilli. 20 centimeters of sweet power
and has a light purple hue to it. The fruit is firm and dries
well for you to keep during the winter months when you have
to eat something hot. |

Chilli
plants are set out in neat rows to allow for easy inspection
and picking. A neat farm is a productive farm as I always say.
